Membership for the 2014-15 Fall and Spring Terms
About Overstone School
Overstone School is first and foremost a ministry of Wellington Church. Wellington not only provides the facility for the school, but the board members are members of Wellington, and every decision is made in light of our desire to give glory to God and to submit to His Word. We take the discipling of our children very seriously, therefore the administration and teachers at Overstone School undergo a thorough vetting process so that we can protect the hearts and minds of our precious children (Matthew 19:14).
As Overstone School is a ministry of Wellington Church, we are committed to: preserving a community of faith that is committed to Biblical learning, providing a Living Education according to Charlotte Mason's educational philosophy, fostering close relationships between the co-op members, and supporting parents in their homeschooling journey.
As such, the membership process is more detailed than most. Applications to the school include parent statements on educational philosophy, a personal testimony* as to one's relationship with Jesus Christ, a pastoral recommendation*, pre-reading of one of Charlotte Mason's books by start of Fall Term (September 4), and participating in the national conference or additional reading/research as specified by the Head Teacher in the application process. The application process also includes a personal interview with the Head Teacher and the Pastor. This interview is the last step in the process and will only take place if all other parts of the written application have been accepted by the Board. The interview is an opportunity for us to meet and get to know one another better. You may have questions, and we want to ensure we address those questions. One or both parents are welcome to attend this interview.
* Members of Wellington Church who completed their testimonies as part of the membership process do not need to submit an additional testimony or pastoral recommendation.

Other Considerations
Due to facility space and our desire to maintain a small teacher to student ratio, membership is limited. Applications will be considered in this order: members of Wellington Church and existing Overstone School Full Members, Sabbatical Overstone members, the waiting list from the previous year, new applicants.
